Disaster Relief and Recovery

Emergency aid and recovery support for affected communities. Our Disaster Relief and Recovery programme provides rapid response in the immediate aftermath of shocks (floods, storms, fires or other emergencies) and supports longer-term recovery through shelter, livelihoods restoration and community rebuilding activities.

Who benefits

Communities and households directly affected by sudden onset disasters or protracted crises, including displaced families, those who have lost homes or livelihoods, and people at heightened risk due to poverty, disability or age.

How the programme works

1. Rapid needs assessment with local authorities and partners to identify urgent priorities.
2. Immediate distribution of emergency relief items (food, water, shelter kits, hygiene supplies).
3. Coordination with local government and NGOs for referrals, protection and health services.
4. Short and medium-term recovery support: shelter repair, cash assistance, livelihood support and psychosocial care.
5. Monitoring, accountability to affected persons and lessons-learned activities to improve future response.
